This is an in-depth, three-hour live demonstration exploring the complete process of creating and precision faceting a dichroic X-cube. Hosted and taught by Mr. Facet, this class provides an up-close look at the techniques, materials, and creative decisions involved in glass lamination and precision faceting.

No prior experience is required, and students do not need to bring any tools or equipment.

The class begins with glass lamination, starting with a plain block of clear glass. Students will learn how clear and dichroic glass are transformed into an X-cube through a detailed, step-by-step demonstration covering material preparation, assembly, alignment, adhesives, and the properties and behavior of laminated glass.

The class will then transition into gem faceting techniques applied to laminated glass. A custom faceting pattern will be designed live using gem-design software, giving students an inside look at how an idea is developed into a workable cutting pattern and how angles, proportions, and facet placement are chosen.

That newly created design will then be taken directly to the faceting machine and cut from start to finish. Beginning with a fresh X-cube, students will see the complete process through the final polish as the cube is transformed into a finished, precision-faceted gem shape.

Please note: This is a demonstration-only class. Students will observe the entire process up close, ask questions, and learn the techniques being demonstrated, but will not be performing the lamination or faceting themselves. No tools, materials, or equipment are required.
